Chickens lay soft eggs.
Now here is something I did not know until this afternoon. Inside the chicken, eggs are always soft shelled. In fact, although there are nutritional and health problems which can cause an egg to remain soft after it is laid, all chicken eggs come out of the chicken in a soft state. It is the sudden temperature change and contact with atmosphere which cause the shell to become hard. Watch the following video, note how flexible the egg is as it is laid, how shinny it is, and how the color shifts within just a few seconds. Mother Nature is AMAZING!
